What is a Menu?
A menu is a list of related topics from which you can select one or more choices.
Optionally, choices may be organized into groups. A choice may link to another menu, or
a view, or a Web page from another server. A menu may represent tasks, resource sets, or
applications. You can add explanatory information as annotations.
A menu may consist of a number of components:
- Title
- The title of the menu is displayed at the top of the view. This area may include a
link to the optional customizable help.
- Message area
- This area displays any messages and contains a link to the messages help for
the message being displayed.
- Selection criteria area
- This area allows you to set the context and scope for the current menu.
-
- Annotations
- These are the instructions on how to use the menu and comments explaining the menu.
-
- Menu choices
- Each menu choice may be one of the following types of link:
- Menu links
- Links to other menus, possibly setting the context and scope.
- View links
- Links to views of data, possibly setting context and scope and
other selection criteria.
- External links
- Links to external URLs, which will be displayed in a
separate browser window and served by another server, not the CICSPlex SM
Web User Interface server.
Menus can be structured in different ways for different tasks. For example:
- A menu of views for related objects, for example, those objects relating to transactions.
- A task-structured menu of views that will be used in sequence to perform a particular task.
- A menu of logical scopes or applications, with each menu choice going to the same menu. Each
application uses the same menu but the scope is preset.
