Signing On

To sign on to the CICSPlex SM Web User Interface:

Type in the URL for the signon panel into your browser, for example:

http://hostname:port/CICSPlexSM//
```
This will be supplied to you by your system adminstrator. You may include your user ID in the URL; click here for details.
Press Enter. You see a Welcome panel with a Begin Signon button.
Click the Begin Signon button. The signon panel is displayed. If your Web browser supports multiple windows, the signon panel is displayed in a new window.
Type in your sign-on details:
- Type in your user name.
- Type in your password, if required. Note that your password is not displayed.
- If you already have a session running on this Web User Interface server, check the Reconnect box.
- Click the Signon button.
- To clear the signon panel and start again, click the Clear button.

Note the following:

If you do not have an active session running on this server, your requested display is displayed. This will normally be your Home menu.
If you have an active session running on this server but have not clicked the Reconnect box, the signon process will fail. The signon panel is redisplayed for you to try again.
If you have an active session running on this server and have clicked the Reconnect box, the old session is destroyed and a new session is created. You are asked to confirm your user name and password before your requested display is displayed.
References to a password now include a password phrase. A password is a character string that can comprise mixed-case letters, numbers, and certain special characters from 1 to 8 characters in length. The ownership of the characterset allowed and rules for passwords is defined by RACF. The ownership of the characterset and rules for password phrases is defined by RACF. The rules are defined in z/OS V1R11.0 (and later) Security Server RACF General User's Guide.

You can sign on with a URL that includes your user name, for example:

http://hostname:port/CICSPlexSM//username

The signon process is the same as before, except that the signon panel is displayed with the user name filled in.
