CICSPlex SM Web User Interface View Editor Overview

What is the View Editor?

The CICSPlex SM Web User Interface View Editor allows you to create customized menus, views and maps that reflect your business procedures. You can, if you wish, use the supplied menus and view sets as models, or you can design your own from scratch..

This page contains a brief overview of the facilities offered by the View Editor. For detailed information about the View Editor, see the CICSPlex SM Web User Interface Guide.

Accessing the View Editor

The link to the View Editor is in the Navigation Frame. The link to the View Editor is displayed only if you have the authority to use it. Click the link and a View Editor session is opened in a new window. You can have more than one View Editor session running at any one time.

Creating menus, views and maps

The View Editor leads you step by step through the process of creating menus, views and maps. At each stage, you are presented with choices. For example, you might click a link to create a new menu, click an action button to edit a menu, check a check box to add the summarize button to a tabular view column, or select a radio button to select the type of view you want to create. At each point, text explains the purpose of the panel, and the meaning of the various choices you can make. Where you have to enter text, for example, the name of the view, you are told how many characters you may enter for the name to be valid.

For general use, menus, view sets and views are identified by names of up to 16 alphanumeric characters. View set names must be unique within the server repository. View names are unique within a view set. It is recommended that you adopt a naming convention for the naming of menus, view sets and views.

Note: For IBM use, and for use by independent software vendors (ISVs) an underscore (_) is permitted in menu, view set and view names. Names beginning with IBM_ and with EYU_ are reserved for IBM use.

Web User Interface supplied menus and view sets

The CICSPlex SM Web User Interface includes a set of menus and views that you can use either as supplied or as the basis from which to create your own customized views and menus. When you work with either menus or views, the supplied menus and view sets are listed in a selection box. You can then select the one that you want to base your customized view on.

Note: You cannot save changes to the supplied view sets and menus. View set and menu names beginning with EYU are reserved for IBM use. You must copy the required supplied view set or menu then edit your copy.

All supplied views are named EYUSTARTobject, where object is a CICSPlex SM resource table name.
